Vaping PSA from Nice Guys Delivery

Consumers should ALWAYS buy their cannabis products from licensed retailers.

If you’re a cannabis consumer, there’s a pretty good chance you’ve seen some news reports about vaping-related illness lately, and you may have some questions and concerns about what’s going on. For weeks, the media has been full of stories about people falling ill after using vape products, although the specific types and brands of cartridges are unclear. One possibility reportedly being considered is that the illnesses are the result of the presence of Vitamin E acetate in certain vape oils, which while safe for consumption in some forms may not be safe when inhaled as a vapor.

To be clear, there simply hasn’t been enough public information disclosed to know for certain what the cause of the illnesses is, although it has been confirmed that many of the cases occurred following the use of unlicensed, untested, and unregulated vape cartridges. In other words, products that are not subject to the state of California’s lab testing requirements, effectively being sold on the black market.

At Nice Guys, our foremost concern is making sure our customers get what they want, and what they need, out of cannabis. That includes a wide range of vape cartridges and pods, both high-THC and CBD-rich varieties, containing oils produced by a variety of reputable vendors who’ve operated within the bounds of the state of California’s regulations, including its mandatory lab testing regimen.

As of this writing, the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) have not detailed what they believe the specific cause of the illnesses might be, although certain chemicals often found in unregulated cartridges are being examined. Suffice to say, we don’t want you to worry about using the products we carry, which is why we’ve spoken to our vendors to give you some reassurance about the quality, purity, and testing that goes into the cartridges we carry. Below are some of the responses released by the vape companies that stock our shelves.

In the years since we were founded, Nice Guys Delivery has been driven by a singular desire: to help the people of Marin County get what they want, and what they need, in cannabis. It’s a labor of passion for us, both in serving a community that we deeply love and owe so much to, and in raising awareness of the countless benefits of one of the world’s oldest and most therapeutic herbs. And that’s why we couldn’t be prouder or more thankful that Nice Guys Delivery is a Marin local cannabis business, and we’re so excited for what’s ahead.

We’re a locally-owned business serving the entire county, from the hills of Sausalito, to the streets of Novato, to the shores of Stinson Beach, and everywhere in between. Our staff of friendly and experienced drivers and dispatchers—many of them born and raised right here in the county—are available seven days a week to bring you a wide array of some of the finest flowers, concentrates, edibles, topicals, and assorted cannabis goods on the market today.

Needless to say, recreational and medicinal cannabis is a booming industry in California, which on its own is a world-class economic power — it would, in fact, be the world’s fifth-largest economy if it were its own country. And, as with any exploding new sector of the economy, there’s a tremendous amount of money flooding into the market, with new companies and exciting new products popping up left and right.

Some companies are active all throughout the state, serving incredibly wide areas with no particular or specific rooting in any one city, town, or county. Some are backed by enormous amounts of venture capital funding. Some of them use independent contractors or third-party drivers to avoid employing their own team, farming the work out to people they don’t know as well, in communities with which they have no familiarity. Long-term, these kinds of practices work to suffocate small businesses, to the benefit of large corporations looking to dominate local markets.

At Nice Guys Delivery, we take a different approach. We were founded right here in Marin, a family business built from the ground up through the diligence of our team, and we employ a reliable, friendly, knowledgeable, and discreet stable of both full and part-time employees. And we love every moment of providing the people of Marin with quick, efficient, responsive, and compassionate cannabis delivery.

You can order online from the privacy and convenience of your laptop or mobile device, or you can call up the office with any questions or suggestions or requests. The most important thing to us is that the people of Marin have access to the finest cannabis products, both in the times you want them, and the times you need them.

In short, whether you’re a longtime cannabis user, or whether you’re coming to it later in life and want some advice on how to make it work for you, we’re ready and waiting to help with any questions, suggestions, or requests you have. And between our 25 percent discount for new members, our loyalty rewards program, and our 10 percent discount for veterans and customers age 65 and up, there’s never been a better time to become part of our extended family. So thanks, Marin, for a wonderful couple of years. Here’s to many more!

Friday, May 31, 2019

The Illinois Legislature made history today becoming the second state legislative body to pass a bill repealing cannabis prohibition, joining the great state of Vermont. But, they went one step further by also legalizing regulated cannabis commerce.

Once Democratic Governor J.B. Pritzker’s signs the bill, Illinois will officially be the 11th State to legalize cannabis in the US. This move gives more strength to the common sense decision to end Federal prohibition on cannabis.

On January 1, 2020 adults in “Illinois will legally be able to purchase up to 30 grams of cannabis flower, five grams of concentrates and 500 milligrams of cannabis-infused products. These things won’t actually be available on New Year’s Day though.” As seen in many other states, the regulatory hoops usually take a bit of time to get through.

Historic FDA Hearing Today! Cannabis Companies Lobby the FDA to Fully Legalize CBD.

Concerns over exaggerated health claims prompt FDA hearing on effects of CBD products. Read the full article by clicking here.

Today, the FDA held its first hearing on whether companies can add CBD, a non-intoxicating cannabis compound, to food, beverages and dietary supplements.

“In 2018, the Farm Bill removed hemp and derivatives such as CBD from the federal list of controlled substances so long as THC percentages don’t exceed .03%, but the law gave the FDA the authority to regulate all cannabis compounds, including CBD. The FDA has had a relative hands-off approach so long as companies haven’t made exaggerated claims about curing Alzheimer’s or cancer, but it would be good for the cannabis industry and consumers to have clarity, so long as the FDA doesn’t unnecessarily stifle the market.”[3]

The FDA is not likely to make any decision on the first hearing. The regulators will more than likely collect data on safety and effectiveness of CBD and see how it can regulate the industry. The process will go a step forward if majority opinion goes in favor of CBD. One thing we’ve learned from walking through the licensing process and dealing with the local government is that it is really important for people to show up at public events, workshops, and hearings to help mold the industry in the way you want to see it develop.

Marin County doesn’t currently have any brick-and-mortar recreational cannabis storefronts. Have you listened to the “Not Your Average Nice Guys” Podcast yet? It’s produced by our team as a way to remove the fear out of marijuana. They interview industry members and talk about what it’s like to work in the legal California Cannabis industry. It’s a lot of fun and it’s really informative. I recommend giving it a listen.

Listen to us interview Heather who is an Account Manager for Bloom Farms in our latest episode. She is a wonderful example of a woman who’s growing with the industry.

Episode 007: Interview with Heather | Account Manager for Bloom Farms

“Legal cannabis is currently the greatest job-creation machine in America. The cannabis workforce increased 21% in 2017. It gained another 44% in 2018. We expect at least another 20% growth in jobs in 2019. That would represent a 110% growth in cannabis jobs in just three years.” - Leafly

Welcome to episode 007 of the Not Your Average Nice Guys Podcast, where it is our goal to educate consumers while removing the fear out of marijuana. The show is run by Nice Guys Delivery employees who interview other industry peers to lift the veil of the legal California cannabis industry.

In this episode, we talk to Heather who is an Account Manager for Bloom Farms. She is one of the first vendors Nice Guys Delivery ever worked with when we first opened our doors in 2016, and she is a great example of a professional in the space. We talk about how cannabis is changing the landscape and giving a lot of people opportunities and jobs. The industry offers upward mobility for anyone willing to work.

"You have to be passionate about cannabis to really do this." - Heather

Bloom Farms is a staple in the California cannabis market. One of the reasons we like them so much is because of their desire to be nice and give back to the communities they're serving. They formed a 1-for-1 program that has donated over 1.6 million meals. They partner with 9 local food banks across the state to make this happen. Last year Nice Guys joined Bloom Farms on World Food Day to donate food at the SF Marin Food bank.

Why Should You Trust Nice Guys Delivery?

Marijuana Delivery for adults aged 21 years and older | Marin County, CA

Why should you trust Nice Guys Delivery?

Nice Guys Delivery is one of the few licensed cannabis delivery services operating in San Rafael, California. When our company first moved to the community we served the medical marijuana market, but on April 16th, 2019 we began selling recreational cannabis to adults aged 21 years and older.

Like many of our customers raising kids, we are parents with children growing up in Marin County and we want them to grow up in a safe and healthy community. We have policies in place to protect children and our community alike. It’s our desire to be apart of the solution. We work closely with the B.C.C and City of San Rafael to ensure we are running our business according to regulations. It’s important to us that our community feels safe!

One Challenge Cannabis Delivery Driver’s Face

lifestyleNice Guys DeliveryComment

Have you ever wondered what sort of problems cannabis delivery drivers face while doing their jobs?

nice guys cannabis delivery
Tags: Marin County | Marijuana Delivery | Nice Guys Delivery

As a delivery driver we are given tools to communicate with the customer. We use an app that includes an invoice, navigation, and order notes. We see the order notes as additional instructions from the customer - for example, if someone has a gate code where they live they can use the order notes to give instructions to the drivers. It’s very useful. Order notes must be entered during checkout.

Then after the customer places an order and it has been processed into the Nice Guys Delivery system they receive a text message with an ETA and access to real-time tracking that enables them to see where their delivery is at all times. In addition to tracking the app sends customers a text message with delivery updates, including a notification when the driver is 2 minutes away from arriving.

I’ve noticed sending a text makes the transaction a lot easier for both me and the customer. - A Nice Guys Delivery Driver

One of the biggest challenges our drivers face is delivering to local businesses and not being able to reach the customer to drop the package off. When customers communicate the best way to make the delivery it helps our drivers ensure the products arrive in a timely manner. This is where the order notes at the end of checkout become really helpful. Otherwise, if we’re unable to contact anyone without prior approval to enter the business, we will likely return to our office with the products and try to deliver again later after we contact someone with more direct instructions.

Unfortunately, there isn’t a text book with instructions of “Best Practices On How To Deliver Cannabis.” It would be nice but it doesn’t exist. We’re the ones writing the manual as we continue building the infrastructure of the industry. We need your help to make this the best experience it can be. We appreciate feedback because it’s a big part of how we’re moving the industry forward. Thank you for communicating with us. It helps us better serve you!

San Rafael, CA - The City With A Mission

Danielle O'Leary is a leading member of the team creating the legal cannabis program in San Rafael, California. She is the Director of Economic Development and Innovation and because of her efforts, Nice Guys Delivery and others are able to legally sell cannabis in San Rafael and Marin County.

In this episode, we talk to Danielle about San Rafael's Cannabis Program and how it’s been going since it was created. We talk about different ways cannabis is bringing positive change to the community and also a little bit about her background. This is a unique conversation with someone from outside the industry.

Thank you for listening to the Not Your Average Nice Guys Podcast.

Please leave a comment and let us know what other type of cannabis content you’d like to hear!

We appreciate you!

Our talk is based around these questions:

  1. You are helping write and guide policies for a community trying to embrace cannabis. How did you come to this position and what is the career history that led you here?

  2. The majority of Marin voted for legalization and each community across California is embracing prop 64 in their own way. Marin has eased its way forward regarding policies. What's the next progression?

  3. Have licensed cannabis businesses been good operators in San Rafael? How are we doing?

  4. What is the biggest concern from the city's point of view? What are some mistakes you've seen other communities make?

  5. Where is the tax revenue being applied?

  6. Aside from Tax revenue, what do you and the city hope to see from us as licensed businesses?

  7. Have you seen an increase in crime since San Rafael began allowing legal cannabis sales?

Additional Notes and Resources:

"On March 4, 2019, San Rafael City Council approved amending our current medical cannabis policy to allow existing licensees the ability to serve the adult-use market. This recent action does not permit new retail storefront licensing activity.  The list of approved license types and allotments are shown below:"

“Science is not only compatible with spirituality; it is a profound source of spirituality.” — CARL SAGAN

Cosmic View was founded in 2017, as a marriage between science, art and California lifestyle. Their line of products mirrors an obsession with pure earth products that honor our role as caretakers of this planet and the cosmic order of nature.

Christine Skibola:

Christine Skibola is a former UC Berkeley professor and a leading international cancer researcher.  Semi-retired from academia, she is pursuing her passion helping those with cancer and other chronic illnesses through lifestyle and dietary changes and holistic approaches.  Using her scientific background, Christine produces Cosmic View’s topical and supplemental cannabis formulations aimed at helping individuals with health conditions.

Christine was a Professor of Epidemiology and an Endowed Chair of Oncology in the Comprehensive Cancer Center at the University of Alabama, Birmingham until 2016.  She received an MS and PhD in Environmental Health Sciences with an emphasis in toxicology and genomics at the UC Berkeley School of Public Health, where she remained as a faculty until she was recruited to UAB in 2012. Her main research focused on the study of genetic, environmental and lifestyle factors that influence cancer risk and disease. She is considered an international leader in the molecular epidemiology of lymphoma and is currently an Adjunct Professor at the Emory School of Medicine.  Dr. Skibola is an author of over 100 peer-reviewed science journal articles in prestigious publications such as Nature Genetics, Blood, Lancet Oncology, and JAMA Oncology. Before she (mostly) retired from academia, she worked with doctors from the Mayo Clinic, Harvard Medical School, the National Cancer Institute (NCI), Memorial Sloan Kettering and UCSF to name a few.

Dr. Skibola is interested in the role of diet, lifestyle and mind-body practices in the prevention and treatment of cancer, as well as exploring how cannabis may be used to treat cancer symptoms and disease. Dr. Skibola is passionate about directly empowering patients regarding their health.

NICOLE SKIBOLA

Once trained as a lawyer, Nicole Skibola is a cancer survivor and artist. Nicole is a recent Brooklyn transplant and lives in Marin County, California. Her passion for holistic health deepened after surviving a rare endometrial cancer at a young age. Nicole has been interested in cannabis products, particularly CBD extractions for her ongoing physical health, notably for its calming and anti-inflammatory properties.

Nicole is the author of Wakeful Night, published with Dottir Press in the fall of 2018. Wakeful Night is an illustrated exploration of cancer-related loss she developed to lead readers through their own stages of identity, fear, and metaphorical thinking associated with a cancer diagnosis. Through art -- the book also contains a series of Skibola’s abstract linocut prints and India ink paintings -- and some narrative storytelling, Wakeful Night aims to support readers to understand their experience of cancer and develop a creative practice.

Nicole brings business savvy and a love for beautiful packaging and modern aesthetic to Cosmic View and is in love with the holistic health practitioners in her life she feels fortunate to call friends.  She is interested in the role of diet and lifestyle, such as Ayurveda, juicing and meditation in her ongoing physical and mental health, as well as the role of personal storytelling in making sense of life's unexpected turns. She has worked with the USC Norris Cancer Center, the Brooklyn Cottage, and will expand her creative grief work in relation to cancer with the publication of her book in the fall. She is a regular contributor for A Women’s Thing, a print and online magazine based in New York where she writes about entrepreneurship, feminism and finding your path.

Which Cannabis Strain do you prefer?

lifestyleNice Guys DeliveryComment

Do you prefer Indica, Sativa, or Hybrid cannabis flower? Does it matter to you?

And what feeling are you seeking when consuming?

Cannabis is an extremely unique plant. No two people have the same experience, and even if they could biologically-speaking, they still couldn’t, because each cannabis strain and each harvest is different. Cannabis is alive and constantly evolving.

At Nice Guys, we recommend tracking your experience. It means you should take ownership of your cannabis use by becoming interested in what you’re consuming and tracking how it makes you feel (actually write it down).

Become curious. Ask your licensed cannabis provider questions and reach out on social media to start a dialog with others. Prohibition will end when more of us begin to open up and talk about all the ways cannabis helps our lives.
